Welcome to the website for Riddells Creek Skate Park
Macedon Ranges Shire Council has just announced that the Riddell Skate Park project has succussfully passed the shire's assessment and has been short-listed for state government funding. So we’re now holding our breath until early March next year to see if we can receive the funds we need. If successful (which I’m sure we will be), we are set to receive about $40,000 from the shire council and a further $60,000 from the state government in the form of grants. When this is added to the budgeted $30,000 of community fundraising within the town, we shall commence the construction of this exciting new $130,000 skatepark in July or August 2007. However, there remains lots of work to do. Fundraising, planning and project management for the construction will take up the time of all the dedicated members of the committee. The most important of these functions is fundraising. If we fail to raise the budgeted local fundraising target then we would see a double corresponding reduction in state government grant, that is, if we have a fundraising shortfall of $3,000 we could also lose an additional $6,000 from the state grant! So far, we are on track – but the major fundraiser that the town is relying on is the sale of engraved pavers to be concreted around the perimeter of the skate park. This is a great opportunity for all you Riddell families and businesses to contribute and be recognised for your efforts. We have a target to sell 400 single pavers at $25 each and 100 double pavers at $50 each. .
